It’s nice to meet you!

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Zarin and i’m a dancer, actor, singer & artist based in Vancouver, Canada. When I was 3 years old, I sat in my parents bedroom and I watched the 2002 film version of Chicago for the first time- It was then when I decided I was born to entertain people.

Growing up, I began taking one ballet class a week… this quickly escalated from a hobby to my entire world. I lived and breathed dance. I didn’t care what style class I was taking, or how many blisters I had on my feet, you could not get me out of a dance studio. It was my second home.

My passion for dancing led me to some amazing opportunities. In 2014 and 2017, I had the privilege of traveling to Europe as a member of Team Canada to compete at the International Dance Organizations World Dance Championships. In my teen years, I would spend my summers in New York City training at the Joffrey Ballet School… and also splurging my years earnings on tickets to Broadway shows. It was then when I rediscovered my love for Musical Theatre.

From then on forward I began taking acting classes, and voice lessons- Anything I could think of to somehow turn my dreams into a reality. In 2019 I made the decision to move to New York City, and I began my studies at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, taking in everything this wonderful city has to offer. Having said that 2020 turned out to be a very interesting year for reasons I don’t need to go into.

During that strange shut down time, I briefly returned to Vancouver, where I spent my time studying Writing for Film and TV at Vancouver Film School. During this time I also had the opportunity and privilege to train with Lesley telford as a part of the Performance Research Project. I soon returned to New York to complete my conservatory program at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, which I graduated from in late October of 2021.

After my time studying in school concluded I began to get a taste of “The Real World”, where I became a student of life. I spent about a year and a half working at Steps on Broadway in New York City where I also took class. I was learning from artists I grew up worshipping, and inspired on a daily basis by my new found community. As I found a home in the New York dance scene, I wound up with the chance to perform at Lincoln Centre on the Plaza on 9/11 in a dance piece conceived and led by the brilliant Jackie Buglisi and Buglisi dance theatre.

As my time in New York City was coming to a close, I was invited to be apart of a one night only musical by David Malloy for the opening of the new Hermès Flagship store on Madison Ave. It was grand, exciting and colourful, and I don’t think I could’ve dreamt up a more perfect send off from New York City.

I have since returned to my beautiful home - Vancouver. I truly cannot wait to see what this next chapter of my life and my journey holds for me… and all that jazz.
